About us

Established in 2004 South Derbyshire Karate Academy has been a cornerstone of Martial Arts teaching in Derby for over 20 years.

Our 5th Dan Black Belt Senior Instructors are highly experienced in both teaching and competing at world class level with both World and European Champion titles to their names!

In addition, we have a dedicated team of Black Belt Instructors who assist in class to ensure that students receive targeted tuition for their age and grade.

Each Instructor has been trained within the Academy to ensure consistent and high quality teaching in line with the ethos of our club.

‘Karate For All’ is our motto. We pride ourselves on being a diverse group, with students from 4 years of age to retirement age plus, from all sections of society.

Family – Many families train together in Karate. It’s a great way to bond and grow as a family. We have returning students from 2 decades ago bringing their Children and Grandchildren to train with us which we consider to be high praise indeed!

Friendship – Karate is a great way to make new friends with lifelong friendships being formed within our club.

Karate Training

We teach a traditional Wado Ryu style Syllabus, blending the core principles of this style with modern training techniques.

In addition to traditional Karate training, our academy boasts an active and successful Sport Karate Competition squad with many European and World Titles to their name
